Period positivity

THE ISSUE

African girls encounter significant challenges because of unclean or non-existent restrooms. During their menstrual periods, they are often compelled to seek outdoor alternatives, resorting to using leaves or old rags as makeshift sanitary pads, which exposes them to serious health risks. The high cost of sanitary pads and the lack of proper facilities further lead to many girls missing school during their menstrual periods. This disrupts their education and may even lead them to consider dropping out.

Menstruation should not be taboo. The African Center for Policy and Advocacy aims to support vulnerable children in hygiene, health, and education. Support is urgent and immediate in various places, including the construction of sanitation facilities and menstrual hygiene education. Your prompt action can make a significant difference.

We distributed sanitary pads, taught menstrual hygiene to over 100 high school girls, and had an educational dialogue about debunking myths surrounding menstruation in Cameroon.

Join us in our mission to improve and demystify menstruation across Africa. Your support can ensure that every girl, no matter where they live, can enjoy dignity and opportunities to access sanitary pads,  safe sanitation, and proper hygiene. Your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these girls.
