Regular physical activity is a cornerstone of good health and well-being. However, the issue of physical inactivity in Africa is pressing. Shockingly, physical inactivity is responsible for a staggering 200,000 deaths annually in Africa, as per 2020 data from the WHO Regional Office for Africa. Equally concerning is the fact that 22 out of every 100 adults in Africa are not physically active, putting approximately 223 million adults at risk of developing non-communicable diseases. The situation is even more dire for adolescents, with 85 out of every 100 adolescents being inactive in Africa.
We organized a walk-the-talk event in Buea, Cameroon, by mobilizing people of all ages to participate in the Health for All challenge. An educational health video was produced to highlight the importance of staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The community was also provided with a free screening for hypertension and obesity.
Join us in our quest to reduce the global prevalence of physical inactivity in adults and adolescents by 15% before the target year of 2030 by supporting our awareness campaign about the significance of participating in physical activities. Your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of all Africans.
